The Ointment

Mark 14:1-9 After two days was the feast of the passover, and of unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death. But they said, Not on the feast day, lest there be an uproar of the people. And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
If you go to fernandpetal.ca and key in pure rose essential oil in the 30 ml bottle, you will note that it costs a whopping $794.40! Rose essential oil is the most expensive out of all oils and ointments - and because it is a health power-house!
If you have read my two other blogs (Petal PowerOnly Believe) regarding the essential oil's health benefits, you will discover that inhaling the oil is powerful enough to delay death if you are on your death-bed; yes, you've read that right - powerful enough to delay death!
Jesus defied death - it's no wonder that the excellency of a rose is compared to Him!

Spikenard essential oil, has similar powerful properties, and since it was poured on Jesus' head, his death was certainly delayed!
Spikenard, interestingly enough, has the highest scavenging rate - meaning it removes filth - and that is what Jesus did for us, He removed our filth (sin). What's more is, Jesus was Holy, so it was impossible for death to have any hold on Him. (Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:)
In verse 8 Jesus said, "She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

Spikenard, now endangered, is a powerful life-preserving & healing oil. It is so expensive that you can either buy it diluted or in very small quantities. Spikenard, in history, was used for those who were about to experience difficulty. It enabled them to handle stress well and make decisions maturely. The oil supports the central nervous system, heals a host of skin conditions, and it keeps the brain functioning well (amongst a host of other health benefits), but most importantly, it keeps your organs functioning very well during injury.
This was poured on Jesus' head to prepare Hid Body for what was to come (delaying death until His work was complete on the Cross!).
We see the symbolic nature of this because Jesus removed our sin (filth), and He knew that His burial was temporary (He had no sin of His own). When Jesus arose, He had nail-scared hands, feet and a piercing in His side; His skin that was ripped open during the crucifixion was healed upon His Resurrection.
After examining all these facts, one could conclude that Jesus was purposely anointed with an oil that would delay his physical death, and keep his mind and nervous system in check AND his organs functioning well - just so He had to endure the pain of the crucifixion to the very end to remove our sin. (Let that sink in!)

I have heard many speak of what Jesus endured on the cross - saying that it was completely impossible that He didn't die before he arrived. Many men would have died not even 1/3 way through the torture.
I remember a long time ago - reading the words of Jesus in Mark 14:9 - that this would be told for a memorial of her; I never understood the relevance of why He specifically said that until now - WOW!

Genesis 2:16-17 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat; But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Now, spikenard has been rumored to be the “forbidden fruit” from the Garden of Eden; it actually makes sense because of the evil done to the Holy One. Either way, we do know is that whatever it was, it was desirable. (Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.)
Through this, we came into the knowledge of evil because we learned to follow after our desires. Thanks be to Jesus, because of His life (example) we came into the knowledge of what is Holy by following after Him!

Matthew Chapter 26:26-28 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

The church practices communion by taking juice and bread; although communion is good and we are instructed to do it, we need to understand it's spiritual significance. Jesus says in Matthew 20:22 "But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able."

When you say "I am able", know what you are able of; I recently heard a pastor say if ye claim to be in Christ, your Christianity does not belong to you; it belongs to others. Jesus lived His life according to this principle; He lived His life as though He belonged to us. This is Communion as per the Christian Rite or your "I Do" or "I Will" or "I am able".

1 Corinthians 11:26 - For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
How do you show the LORD's death (in your being) until He comes?

God Bless,
Maria
