Apple Of His Eye

When you go to biblegateway.com and key in apple-eye, only 5 verses populate. (Authorized KJV)

The term "Apple of His Eye" refers to a person who is held in special regard by God. When God holds you in special regard, you may ask, "what makes me so special"?

There are a few answers why God pays particular attention to someone — which are:

  • You are doing God's work (good works) — Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
  • You belong to God — 1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
  • You are vulnerable (humble) before God — Isaiah 49:16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.
  • You put your trust in God Jeremiah 49:11 Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me.
  • You have been abandoned — Psalm 27:10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.
  • You have been abused — Exodus 22:22 Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. Deuteronomy 27:19 Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.

Getting back to being the "Apple of God's Eye", we are sourced out to receive God's leadership and instruction.

Deuteronomy 32:10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.

We have God's affection.

Psalm 17:8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

We are under God's guidance.

Proverbs 7:2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.

We are under God's divine direction and protection while receiving correction...

Lamentations 2:18 Their heart cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine eye cease.

We are the center of God's glory.

Zechariah 2:8 For thus saith the Lord of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you: for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye

I've heard pastors say that God takes the 'rejects'; His Word says it better in Romans 12:2 — which says; "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."

God accepts those, who refuse to allow themselves to be corrupted by this world— because it is His Perfect Will. When God shows you that you are the "Apple of His Eye" it means that you have done your duty to prove that which is good—and reject that which is evil.
