WWJD - Part 1

Hosea 10:12 says. “Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the Lord, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.”

God rains righteousness on us AS we Abide IN Christ-Jesus. So, how do we do that? We carefully examine the characteristics of JESUS, and then we apply them in our own lives.

All Scripture texts are in the Authorized King James Version only.

Abiding In Christ Part 1:

Jesus is devoted to the things that are of God. Colossians 3:2  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Jesus weighed every thought. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Jesus is thankful. Matthew 15:36 And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

Jesus rejected profane tales. 1 Timothy 4:7 But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

Jesus is wise. Psalms 119:34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

Jesus pleased The Father. John 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

Jesus is loving, forgiving, compassionate and more. Colossians 3:12–17 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;  forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.  And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Jesus is tolerant, forbearing and patient with others, even when they are different or weaker. 1 Thessalonians 5:14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.

Jesus is supportive, sharing strength and courage in their afflictions and troubles. Galatians 6:2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

Jesus is sincere. 1 Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

Jesus is zealous. Titus 2:13-14 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Jesus is a teacher; what we learn from Him, we share with others. Matthew 7:28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

Jesus is temperate. His example for us is to not lose control and give in to lust and extremes of society’s ills. Titus 2:11-12  For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Jesus encourages us to be our very best and win God’s approval. Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.

Jesus is submissive. Ephesians 5:21 submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Jesus is humble. Philippians 2:8 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Jesus is thoughtful. Philippians 2:4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Jesus promotes peace. Proverbs 3:17 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

Jesus is prudent. Proverbs 22:3 A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

Jesus kept no record of wrongs, was not envious, proud or boastful but respectful and protective.  1 Corinthians 13:4-7 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Jesus chose HIS words carefully. Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Jesus pointed people in the right direction. Matthew 19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

Jesus is dependable. Colossians 1:10 that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Jesus encourages singleness of mind rooted in love. 1 Peter 3:8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:

Jesus sets an example. 1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Jesus is not proud and doesn't concern Himself with every matter. Psalm 131:1 Lord, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

God doesn't want us to merely read the word, He wants us to be changed by it. Open your heart to the ways of Jesus and apply yourself to become more like Christ. James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. Next in this Study - Abiding In Christ - Part 2
