The 'Lord Willin' Mindset
Luke 17:21(b)
"Behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”A limited mindset takes over when people use "Lord willin'" as a rigid shield rather than an open invitation to embrace life's complicated spectrum.

Living in Color: Why "Lord Willin'" Can Trap Your Mindset
We have all heard the phrase: "I'll see you tomorrow, Lord willin'." It sounds humble. It sounds safe.
For many people, however, it becomes a dangerous trap. It flattens the vibrant, unpredictable canvas of life into stark black-and-white rules.
The Black-and-White Trap
When your worldview shrinks to rigid certainties, you stop seeing the shades in between.
- Control vs. Surrender: People use the phrase to hand over the steering wheel of their lives completely.
- Fear of Failure: A black-and-white view labels outcomes as purely "meant to be" or "not meant to be."
- Loss of Curiosity: You stop asking why things happen or how you can change them. Life loses its color and turns into a flat checklist.
The Illusion of Abilities
We spend our entire lives trying to showcase what we are good at. We want to prove our strengths.
- We lean heavily on our abilities to keep us safe.
- We think competence is the key to surviving the world.
- But an obsession with our strengths creates a fragile ego. The moment our abilities fail us, our entire identity crumbles.
Thriving in Our Shortcomings
True growth does not happen in our zones of genius. It happens in the gaps where we fall short.
- Embracing Vulnerability: Your shortcomings force you to ask for help, adapt, and learn.
- Finding Resilience: When you accept what you cannot do, you discover creative ways to move forward.
- Coloring Outside the Lines: Flaws make you human. They add texture, depth, and color to your story that perfection can never match.
Shift Your Focus
Stop hiding behind passive catchphrases that keep you in a box. Step out of the black-and-white. Honor your limitations, own your mistakes, and start living a colorful, active life.
A Personal Note
I’ve always disliked that phrase because it is a rejection of one’s faith.
Matthew 21:43
“Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.”
